Bsure Raises $2.1 Million Seed Round to Expand Identity-Visibility Platform Globally
Norwegian cybersecurity startup Bsure has secured $2.1 million in seed funding as it aims to scale its identity‑visibility platform and address a widespread blind spot in modern enterprise IT environments. The funding round, announced in November 2025, was led by Scale Capital with participation from existing U.S.‑based investors, propelling the Oslo‑based company toward international expansion and further product development.
Bsure, founded in 2022 by a team including Henrik Skalmerud, Hallvard Eide, Gunnar Weld, Olav Helland and Frode Omdal Arnesen, builds an Azure‑native platform that connects directly to Microsoft Entra ID to give organisations real‑time visibility into user identities, access rights, and license usage across Microsoft 365 environments. With more than 200 customers across nine countries, the company’s software identifies inactive or risky accounts and unnecessary access, helping IT and security teams reduce both security exposure and software spending.
The $2.1 million seed round represents a strong vote of confidence in Bsure’s mission to tackle “identity sprawl” — the gradual accumulation of forgotten user accounts and unused licences that create operational inefficiencies and compliance challenges. This type of visibility is increasingly critical as tighter regulatory frameworks like NIS2 and the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) require organisations to continuously monitor digital access.
Scale Capital is a Danish venture capital firm that focuses on early‑stage investments in Nordic and B2B technology companies. The firm, established in 2012, typically backs seed to Series A ventures with a strong product‑market fit and global growth potential. Its investment thesis emphasises enterprise software and deep tech, helping founders scale internationally — particularly into the U.S. market.
As lead investor in the Bsure round, Scale Capital brings not only capital but strategic support aimed at accelerating the company’s international growth. Joachim Schelde, Principal at Scale Capital, said the firm sees Bsure fitting “squarely into our thesis of backing Nordic founders building critical B2B infrastructure with global potential,” adding that the platform addresses universal pain points in cloud security and identity management.
In addition to Scale Capital, Bsure’s funding round included existing U.S. investors, though many media reports did not publicly name these parties. Other backers in Bsure’s cap table include groups such as East Carolina Angels, Gratus Private Capital, and the Pirate Entrepreneurship Fund; these investors bring additional capital and networks that support Bsure’s growth strategy beyond Europe.
The infusion of capital will be used to expand Bsure’s team, enhance its platform’s scalability and ease of deployment, and introduce new AI‑driven features designed to make identity data even more actionable for customers. The company plans to build on its foothold in the Nordic region while accelerating market penetration in the United States, where demand for identity governance and security solutions continues to grow as organisations shift toward distributed, hybrid IT environments.
Bsure’s technology comes at a time when enterprises are struggling with the sheer scale of digital identities within cloud ecosystems. As software licences proliferate and IT teams struggle to track who has access to what, many organisations unknowingly accumulate dormant accounts and redundant permissions that can pose significant security and compliance risks. Industry reports indicate that a significant majority of account compromise incidents involve forgotten or unmonitored identities — underscoring why tools that map and surface these blind spots are increasingly in demand.
“Visibility is where it starts,” said Bsure co‑founder Henrik Skalmerud in coverage of the funding round. “You can’t optimise costs or improve security around identities you can’t see.” The new funding, he said, will help bring that visibility to organisations around the world while strengthening the company’s competitive position in the identity governance market.
With this seed investment, Bsure enters 2026 poised to elevate its platform amid a broader industry push toward more proactive identity and access management — an area that cybersecurity analysts increasingly regard as critical to organisational resilience in the cloud era.
