Gosta Labs Raises €7.5 Million Seed to Scale AI Operating System for Oncology and Healthcare Workflows
Helsinki‑based healthtech startup Gosta Labs has closed a €7.5 million Seed funding round to rapidly scale its artificial intelligence operating system designed to support oncology professionals and complex medical specialties worldwide. The financing marks a major milestone in the company’s growth, bringing Gosta Labs’ total funding to nearly €10 million when combined with an earlier pre‑seed raise.
The Seed round was led by Voima Ventures, a Finnish venture capital firm focused on deep tech innovation, and included participation from a diverse group of investors. These included COR Group, one of Finland’s largest healthcare and social care service providers; investment from the Aho family; Reaktor, the technology and design firm; and strategic support from several noted angel investors.
Founded in 2023 by Lauri Sippola and Henri Viertolahti, both of whom previously built and scaled the digital health company Kaiku Health (acquired by Elekta in 2020), Gosta Labs is developing an AI operating system for healthcare that transforms clinical workflows by converting unstructured patient interactions into structured, actionable data in real time. The company’s platform is already deployed with healthcare providers in Finland, Switzerland, the Baltics, and Australia, helping clinicians automate documentation, visualise patient journeys, and integrate structured clinical data into everyday care delivery.
The Seed round’s capital will be used to accelerate international expansion, deepen the platform’s medical‑device‑grade AI foundation, and strengthen partnerships with leading cancer care institutions across Europe and beyond. Gosta Labs’ leadership team has emphasised the importance of equipping oncology providers with tools that reduce administrative burdens and improve the quality and consistency of patient care.
Gosta Labs’ AI operating system addresses a pressing need in oncology care: clinicians often spend many hours each day on documentation and administrative tasks within fragmented healthcare systems. The company’s technology automatically creates structured clinical documentation from patient consultations, assesses relevant clinical parameters such as performance status and toxicity grades, and links treatment decisions to international care guidelines. Real-world findings presented by Gosta Labs indicate that the platform can reduce the time clinicians spend on documentation by more than two‑thirds, enabling them to focus more on direct patient care.
Voima Ventures’ lead investment underlines strong confidence in Gosta Labs’ technical approach and the team’s execution capabilities. Jussi Sainiemi, Partner at Voima Ventures, highlighted the combination of deep clinical insight and robust AI expertise among Gosta Labs’ leadership as a key reason for backing the company, noting that the team’s prior success with regulated health technology provides a solid foundation for international growth.
“The funding secured is a significant endorsement of our mission to bring transformative AI tools to complex medical specialties like oncology,” said Lauri Sippola, CEO and co‑founder of Gosta Labs. He emphasised that the investment will support global scaling efforts and help the company deepen its product capabilities to improve patient outcomes across diverse healthcare systems.
The investment comes at a time when healthcare systems worldwide are under growing pressure due to rising patient numbers and increasingly complex treatment pathways. Projections indicate that by 2050, more than 35 million new cases of cancer are expected annually across over 100 cancer types, placing added strain on clinical teams and underscoring the need for technologies that enhance workflow efficiency. Gosta Labs’ AI operating system aims to meet this challenge by enabling faster, more precise, and more personalised care at scale.
In addition to its technical leadership, Gosta Labs benefits from a team that includes experienced healthcare AI scientists and medtech executives. Chief Medical Officer Dr Lionel Hadjadjeba and Chief Operating Officer Reetta Arokoski bring extensive international experience in scaling cancer care technologies. Their expertise supports the company’s ongoing efforts to refine and expand its AI platform while maintaining a focus on clinical safety and regulatory readiness.
As Gosta Labs moves forward with its Seed funding, the company is positioning itself as a key player in the burgeoning field of AI‑powered clinical workflows, demonstrating how machine learning and automation can deliver measurable value within hospital systems and specialised care units. With an ambitious international roadmap and significant investor backing, Gosta Labs aims to accelerate adoption of its AI operating system across oncology teams worldwide, helping healthcare providers address documentation burdens and deliver more consistent, patient‑centric care.
