Phoebe Secures $17M to Build AI-Powered Immune System for Software

UK-based AI startup Phoebe has raised $17 million in seed funding to develop what it describes as the first “immune system” for software. The round was led by GV (formerly Google Ventures) and Cherry Ventures, with participation from several other investors.

Founded by Matt Henderson and James Summerfield, both of whom previously worked at Stripe and Google, Phoebe is building a platform that uses AI agents to monitor software systems in real time. These agents are designed to detect, diagnose, and resolve issues autonomously, preventing problems from escalating and reducing the need for manual intervention by engineers.

The company’s vision is to address the growing complexity of modern software infrastructure. As businesses increasingly rely on distributed systems, microservices, and cloud environments, failures have become more frequent and more difficult to troubleshoot. Traditional observability tools typically notify engineers when something goes wrong, but they stop short of actually fixing the problem. Phoebe aims to go further by offering a solution that not only identifies issues but also resolves them automatically.

The new funding will allow Phoebe to expand its technology, strengthen the capabilities of its AI agents, and scale its operations to reach more enterprise customers. By positioning itself as a proactive defense system against software failures, the startup hopes to reduce downtime, save engineering resources, and increase reliability for companies that depend on complex digital infrastructure.
