Renset Raises €600K to Expand Portable, Emission-Free Battery Systems Across Europe

Renset, the Delft‑based clean energy start‑up developing portable, emission‑free battery systems aimed at replacing noisy and polluting diesel generators on construction sites, utility projects and outdoor events, has secured €600,000 in funding to accelerate production, expand deployments and support growth across Europe. The financing marks a major milestone in the company’s journey toward decarbonising off‑grid power applications by scaling its lightweight, modular battery technology that delivers clean, efficient and reliable energy where traditional generators have typically dominated.

Founded in 2022 by brothers Teun van ’t Veer and Stijn van ’t Veer, Renset designs modular battery systems that are lightweight (approximately 50 kg), waterproof and easily transportable, offering site operators a quiet, emission‑free alternative to diesel or petrol generators. The modular design uses swappable battery packs with up to 4 kWh capacity via four 1 kWh slots, allowing users to scale power to match needs and swap out depleted batteries quickly — significantly reducing downtime and logistical complexity. Renset’s systems are targeted at sectors where off‑grid energy demand is high but sustainability and operational efficiency have been limited by traditional fuel‑based solutions.

The €600,000 funding round was led by Vliegwiel Impact, an impact‑focused investor dedicated to backing entrepreneurs driving the transition to a sustainable future by scaling climate‑positive technologies and business models. Vliegwiel Impact’s leadership in the round signals strong confidence in Renset’s mission and technology as part of the broader effort to decarbonise energy‑intensive industries.

In addition to the lead investment, Renset received continued support from several returning backers: prominent individual investors Barry McNicholas, David Beaty and Pieter van ’t Veer — all of whom participated in earlier funding stages and have reinforced their belief in the company’s direction by reinvesting in the latest round. Their ongoing commitment has helped Renset sustain momentum through critical development and scaling phases.

According to company leadership, the new funding will be deployed across several key growth initiatives. A significant portion of the capital will be used to ramp up production capabilities so that Renset can meet growing demand from construction firms, utility companies and event organisers seeking cleaner power solutions. Other allocations include the expansion of pilot programmes with strategic partners, optimisation of logistics and manufacturing processes, and investment in go‑to‑market operations to support wider commercial roll‑out across Europe.

Renset’s technology comes at a time when the construction and off‑grid power sectors are under mounting pressure to reduce carbon emissions, improve site conditions, and comply with increasingly stringent environmental standards. Traditional diesel generators, still prevalent on many job sites and outdoor venues, emit significant levels of CO₂ and are costly to operate due to fuel consumption, noise and maintenance requirements. Renset’s battery‑based alternative eliminates direct emissions, runs silently and is designed to be part of a circular energy system that reduces both environmental impact and operational costs.

Beyond the core hardware, Renset has also integrated smart energy management tools, such as its Renset CONNECT digital platform, which provides real‑time insights into battery status, energy consumption and environmental impact — enabling users to optimise deployments and track performance metrics across sites. This digital capability is part of the company’s broader vision to make sustainable, portable power both practical and measurable in everyday use.

The €600,000 investment builds on earlier pre‑seed funding that helped Renset refine its prototype, complete validation tests and strengthen its market positioning. With this new capital in hand, the company is positioned to expand beyond initial pilot deployments and move toward larger commercial contracts in markets where demand for sustainable, off‑grid power is rising rapidly.

As Renset advances into 2026, its growth strategy includes enhancing its modular energy solutions, exploring strategic partnerships with construction and utility firms, and continuing its contribution to the energy transition by reducing reliance on fossil‑fuel‑based generators. With a clear environmental mission and backing from committed impact investors, Renset aims to establish clean, mobile battery systems as the new standard for temporary power in heavy‑duty applications across Europe and beyond.
